About Us

I would like to offer you a warm welcome to Churchgate Church of England Primary School which is a small community school.

We are proud of our school and place a special emphasis on our relationship with parents, the local church of St Mary's and the wider community. You are always welcome in the school both at our special events and at other times. Our aim is to develop an effective partnership with parents so that we can work together for the benefit of the children.

At Churchgate we recognise that children have individual needs, and these are considered in our teaching and learning goals. We encourage the pupils to be part of a caring community, through our Personal, Health and Social Education, and our Christian ethos.

Our Monday assemblies are taken by Dave Welch, our vicar, and  a team from the congegation at St Marys, our local church. We also have assembly every morning of the week, and end of term services for which all the classes walk down to the church for a seasonal service. Visitors and family are cordially invited to these occasions. You will find that in our services, a key element is the lively choice of songs, and pupils will often 'raise the roof' with their enthusiastic singing.

We have an active Friends of Churchgate group who organise social events and fundraising to support the school and a very supportive Governing Body.

We want our children to be happy, successful, disciplined and self-motivated.

I encourage you to browse around our website.

You will find our OFSTED report, prospectus, school policies and information about the school in the Documents section of our site. If you have a suggestion, observation or complaint about our website, our Web Policies, also in the Documents section of our site, gives advice on the best way to let us know.

In the News section we publish our weekly newsletters. Newsletters are one of the ways staff let parents know what is going on at school. In these weekly Churchgate News letters you find details of school events, visitors and activities that serve to enliven the curriculum, alongside information about after school clubs and extra curricular activities in which the children of Churchgate Primary School can participate.

I sincerely hope that you enjoy your visit and my thanks go to Mrs Kett and Mrs Redgewell who maintain our site.

Best Wishes

Mr Tye
(Head Teacher)
